UCLA certainly has a much higher potential ceiling with geography, climate, and recruiting grounds as major pluses over Minn. I’m guessing they will take football more seriously now and wind up in the tier below OSU, UM, USC, and PSU.

Agreed...I see UCLA in the 2nd tier of the B1G. There are only a few teams in the bottom tier: Rutgers, Indiana and now, Northwestern, which 10-15 years had a strong program pre-portal (the same issues with high academic standards that screws Cal and Stanford). It remains to be seen if USC is really in the top level of the B1G. They don't go head to head enough to know if USC is really competitive with Ohio State and Michigan. Both those teams historically have much better defenses than USC

USC has traditionally won Rose Bowls against Big 10 teams. I think they will be fine if that defence improves.
