WSU upsets three ranked teams to win Pac-12 title.
LAS VEGAS — Washington State upset three ranked teams on the way to busting the bracket and dancing off with the women’s Pac-12 Conference Tournament championship.
Final score in Sunday’s title game: WSU 65, UCLA 61.
The Cougars previously upset No. 4 Utah and No. 21 Colorado to set up Sunday’s showdown with No. 16 UCLA. The victory over the Bruins marked the first time in 82 years that a WSU basketball team — men’s or women’s — won a conference tournament championship title.
Washington State (23-10) receives the conference’s automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. WSU was the No. 7-seed in the Pac-12 tournament, the lowest seed to ever make the championship game.
I had a photographer on the scene in Las Vegas, shooting the title game.
