Photo Gallery: Oregon State's season-opening loss to Cal
Cal's 34-15 victory over OSU... in photos.
CORVALLIS — Cal true freshman quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele threw three touchdown passes, and Oregon State struggled to overcome some critical miscues on Saturday at Reser Stadium.
Final score: Bears 34, Beavers 15.
I wrote a column outlining my opinions and takeaways. Was Cal really that sharp? Or were the Beavers just shaky? The season-opening loss for OSU raised some questions and created urgency heading to Week 2.
Photographer Tim Healy was on the scene at Reser Stadium for JohnCanzano.com. I asked Healy what it was like to be down on the sidelines during what was a frustrating opening game for coach Trent Bray’s team.
Said Healy: “Bray was fired up and angry at the refs. He was fired up before the game, too. He was tossing the ball, trying to get the defense pumped up, but they just looked out of sorts. Cal, on the other hand, was happy and partying on their sideline. That quarterback, that kid is smooth. He’s got a big arm.
“There was a fair number of (Oregon State) students who showed up, but you know, it’s always weird when a game goes before the school season starts.”
Healy’s photo gallery is worth your time:

Healy's photo gallery is 10x better than the game! He's captured the mandatory (in my book) "cheerleader hair" photo, the joy of the young Cal QB (and I presume family) and the dejected look of OSU fans. Good balance and lots of fan shots. Nice job Tim.
P.S. I guess the photos of MM yelling at his coach are still in Tim's bag:)
Nice pictures; not so much for the game. Looks like that chainsaw took out the wrong crew.
