SAN JOSE — Oregon State pounded San Jose State in an impressive season-opening performance on Sunday.
Final: Beavers 42, Spartans 17.
OSU quarterback DJ Uiagalelei accounted for five touchdowns — three passing and two rushing. And running back Damien Martinez rushed for 145 yards in the win.
I wrote a column about Uiagalelei’s walk back to the locker room after the victory. The Uiagalelei era began with a solid performance by a player who had lost his confidence.
I also had photographer Joseph Dycus at CEFCU Stadium. His photo gallery is fun and captured the game in pictures:

It's a GREAT day to be a Beaver!
I keep rescanning the USC - San Jose stats to analyze the stats comp and I really can't come up with any conclusive conclusion. Maybe the Beavs defense is more solid than USC and USC's offense is more explosive?
Anyways, Beavs hammered the spread.
