I thought it was a slight sample of what we will see in the fall and the first game.

There three O line starters who did not play but will be ready for fall camp, which will make a difference in the O line play. As for the defense, I liked what I saw. They are ahead of the offense which is to be expected.

As for the Q B, I personally like Gaberi Johnson. Remember he has only had three practice before today, but I thought he showed poise, and he seemed confident and comfortable. I believe he can do more with his legs if a play breaks down than McCoy. He is very shifty and hard to tackle.

We now have 122 days before the first game, so there is a lot of time to work on a lot of things.

I believe we will be a very good team when all is said and done. At least I hope so๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š

John, please do column on Oregon Stare baseball so I can tell everyone what I think of Dorman, the pitching coach. Should have been fired end of last year but how many games is he going to lose for Beavs before Canham replaces him. His CALLS out of the bull pen sometimes make no,sense!

Trent Bray is an upgrade from CJS. The Beavers never turned the corner under CJS until Bray took charge of the defense. Gundy and the new QBs need to deliver, which I think they will.

RBs Hankerson + Jam = Damien who? Love the screen game. Have an over-aggressive defense? Make them pay. Mike Riley approves.

I absolutely hate that pictureโ€” Try not to suck! How about donโ€™t tear people down or demoralize them?

What they need to do is focus on scheduling Home and Homes with P5's in 2025 and 2026 to go with Texas Tech and Houston. Even if they have to pay for them. Even if a Home and Home costs them 1 million, getting brand name schools in Corvallis will pump up the TV value and show recruits they'll still be playing top level teams if they come to Oregon State.

I'd focus on the Big 12 and Big Ten, but also get Cal/Stanford and some Big Ten schools if they can. Really anyone quality that they can get to come, even for a cost.

LSU has schedule openings in 2025-2026. They might not come for free, but a Home and Home plus $1 million might tempt them. That sort of thing. Tell me a network isn't going to increase the media pay to make up the cost difference. Tell me that game isn't a sellout for OSU. Worth the cost.

Other schools that need 2025-2026 opponents include Utah, Baylor, Northwestern, and Rutgers.

If Oregon State's 2025 schedule, which already has Portland State, Wazzu, Cal, Oregon, Texas Tech, Houston and Fresno State, were to also include LSU, Utah, Baylor, Rutgers, and Northwestern then you can't tell me the networks wouldn't be excited to sign on to it. Especially if they are home and homes going into 2026.

After a very challenging and disappointing, 10 months, today was a degree of inspiration for me. Love the pics, your staff provided John.

Defense looked great. Constant pressure on the QB, a tipped INT, great pass defense in man coverage. Hankerson is locked as the #1 back. I saw some article compare him to Quizz, and I can definitely see it. He's taller than Quizz, but has a build and shiftiness that is proportionate to him. Jam looked solid as well - great to have him back in the Orange and Black. Receivers bobbled some passes, and didn't quite fight for the ball sometimes. TEs got a lot of looks in the second half, which I was happy to see. QB is the big question mark - no one looked the part of a dominant starter. McCoy looked okay at first, but sputtered later on. Johnson had a good TD pass on a play that he read well, but was visibly frustrated quite often. Montiel looked the most consistent throughout the game, and had a nice run on a keeper.

Hats off to Bray and Coach Heyward. The offense will get better as they get more reps, especially once Gray is back in the lineup. But it's exciting to see what this defense looks like it might be able to do.

The Try Not To Suck worked pretty well for Joe Maddon.

It's not disparaging - it means do your job, execute the fundamentals and you'll win.

Several years ago Beavs had a pitcher named Washburn from Minnesota. As is the case with freshman pitchers it takes a few games before he is given a chance to pitch in game. The kid comes in at the start of new inning and strikes out the side. Most would say he probably deserves the reward or perhaps another inning. At least I thought he did. But no, Dorman pulls the kid. At that very moment ,I am sure his dad, a former major league pitcher, was beyond pissed that his son was pulled.

In fact at that very moment I am sure โ€œ weโ€™re out of hereโ€ echoed thru the dadโ€™s head. And guess what? Washburn moved to Mississippi or Mississippi State. Just like the other nigh. Pitcher struck out two in inning ,walked 1 and a blooper hit over shortstop. Low pitch count, but Dorman needed some

TV time so out he marches and pulled the pitcher.

Last night Morrell is throwing 95 mph strikes, never in trouble in 1 inning he pitched.Dorman brings in

The batting practice pitcher, sidearmer Hutchinson who pitches go in and out but never up or down.

First batter hits home run. Is he the best beaver have? And the examples go on and on. Canham needs to reign him rest of season and replace him at the end of season

Overall I could not draw a lot from it. I remember how Childs looked so with that I feel a bit uneasy. Vastly under marketed. Vastly under attended. Sadly a poor display. Did not gain new fans.
