Lots of teams for you to follow this season. How about Michigan State? There are a lot of us Beaver fans who have a perverse interest.

Funny how the football is taking over now.

Actually, I'm probably in the minority, but it's just the opposite for me. I continue to subscribe and read John to get the back story of what's still going on outside of the football itself. It's kind of like a very poorly written soap opera I can't stop watching.

As for the football itself, I could care less. Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, any other college team...win, lose I really don't care one way or the other. College football has lost all of its appeal to me. Maybe others feel the same so they don't take the time to comment on the actual football itself? I could be wrong. Just a thought.

Will see you Montlake Monsters in Autzen in November! We owe you three spankings, and nothing is sweeter for we Ducks than to beat the Huskies. Am so sorry you lost your coach to Alabama. Sure hope you can compete in the Big 10. I would cry me a river if you go about 50-50 for the season. Husky free northwest! GO DUCKS

Great job covering all of the former Pac12 teams. Although sad about the demise of the league, I will still be pulling for them to all win. Just to show the rest of the country how good the former Pac 12 was, and the Beavers and Cougars will continue to be. Will be watching both the Beavers and Cougars on the CW this Saturday. Go Pac 12!

Jean, I have been wagering legally on college and pro football for only 40 years. I started out in Nevada, going there once a week to place bets. Mean Girls? fetch? Once again, if you do not like what I write, keep your comments to yourself. Mean girls or fetch has nothing to do with football, and you have bashed me once too many. Beavers and Cougars may sink into oblivion is August 2026. I have forgotten more about betting on football, and watching it, then you ever will . . Wish all you baby beavs would grow a pair and quit crying. OOOOOOOOSSSSSSSUUUUU p u.

good luck with the CW. u can love the big sky or wacky WAC. I am going to ride with the U of O Ducks! As Fred Sanford once said "we are movin on up!" The rich get richer, and to play with the BIG BOYS, you need to get out of the sinking PAC2. You crying Beavers would not be crying if you did not get left behind! BOO HOO; cry to somebody who cares like dony trump. Losers tend to flock together. OOOSSSSUUUU p u and get a life. buy more tickets. expand reser before u sink forever. burn down Gill. give Mr. Tinkled on himself another extension in mens hoops. Save the poor sheep who you use for research. Bring back Ralph Miller and Dennis Erickson. Why does OSU remind me of a red-headed step child twice removed? Oh yeh I just remembered. Nobody cares about cellar dwellers. Watch out or you bevos might end up last in the Pac2. Cougars might ruin your season when they play each other. Toilet bowl 2 is coming soon if WSU and OSU face off; dont know or care if they play this year. I would rather see Ohio State in Autzen, in person, than see baby beavs play sacramento state, or anybody else. Grow a pair and quit sobbing, the loud wails can still be heard in Portland. I like most of your picks, but I don't see LSU losing to USC. I don't care how disrespected Riley feels. LSU always has top caliber players. I also think North Dakota State covers against Colorado and won't be surprised for an upset. NDSU is ALWAYS tough against the FBS (beat the Minnesota Gophers in 2007 and 2011). I don't think there is that much difference between the very top of FCS and the middle to bottom of the FBS (https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/wnba/north-dakota-states-history-of-upsets-revisiting-the-bisons-biggest-wins-vs-fbs-opponents/ar-AA1pD2yr). Sanders is showing he can't control his emotions and his team will play like it. Wouldn't it be fun if Hawaii upset UCLA? I don't have a lot of admiration for the Bruins football program. They jumped the shark by bankrupting their athletic program in 2020

McCoy over Gulbranson at QB at OSU? and USC over LSU in Vegas? Hmmm, not so sure about that decision at QB and that game pick. Gulbranson was pretty darn good two years ago at QB for the Beavers and USC sucked pretty bad last year. I hope North Dakota State kicks Colorado hard.

ASU better watch out. I hope coach Jay won't have the "L" you forgot! ;-/

Nice write up. Agree, we locals avoid the strip as if it is the plague. Ending free parking didn't help either. For a change of pace hit the casinos off strip or a short drive to Red Rock casino and you are entering sanity.

I bitched last year when Oregon ran up 81 points and still think it is disgusting. I think they should play the scrubs much more when facing teams far less talented. I disagree with your USC pick, LSU is loaded but does have to replace a QB. So we shall see. Also, can Mario win against Florida? Hmmm. I'm still not convinced he is a good coach, but he can buy talent.

Lee Lashway's avatar

Don't disagree with your point, but Oregon doesn't have many, if any, "scrubs" these days - even the guys at 3-4-5 at their spots are pretty darn good.

Worth noting, with the typical -110 on a spread bet, had you bet $110 on every game last season, you would have ended the season down $300 despite having a winning record due to the house advantage. Not bagging on John at all but it goes to show how difficult it is to make money betting on college football. His job is watching and knowing college football.

Oregon Draft Kings tip, if you ever fly through Denver you can place college football bets while at the airport.

Yes you can Brian. I had an issue with them last September, and the only safe way to wager on football is cash in person. I go to Spirit Mountain and Chinook Winds once a week for the NFL. I am sticking with the KC Chiefs again this year. I have them in the super bowl in February 2025. Online or offshore wagering is not smart, please trust me. Sure, they take your credit card info when you place the bet. If you win, but do not get paid instantly, or at all, who will you call? Ghostbusters? Some friends of mine did not listen to me. and wish they had last season. The state of Oregon is losing millions of dollars by not making it legal to bet on college football in Indian Casinos.
