Terrific, I enjoy the work. Athletes & writers know of team work, sacrifice to reach a common goal. Kerr, and writers like yourself need to express the collective voice of sacrifice (gun control) and downplay violence as entertainment (hardwork). Schools don't need teacher with guns, they need involved parents who vote.

I have no words today. Just prayers and a heavy heart for ALL our children.

You speak my mind and my heart as well. Thank you for the fullness in the way you write and support sports and the way your heart shows us some of the more important matters. You see and listen beyond the 'highlights' and see the depth of the world and worry and things of note. Thank you "10, 000 sorrows and 10,000 joys."

John, thank you for your words of wisdom. Tears, prayers, and thoughts are not enough. I'm sick and tired of hearing "You want to infringe on the law abiding citizens of our country." Ugh. We truly want reasonable and responsible gun laws. Take a look at how the Swiss did it - they are an excellent example of gun rights and gun safety.

I have four young granddaughters. My wife spent here career in education mostly as an elementary counselor. We are sick about this but the only way we make progress is if responsible gun owning advocates and reasonable gun control advocates are willing to take their jerseys off and make some concessions that will make things safer for our kids. It won’t be perfect to start with but any progress would be something.

Again, this is the important stuff. We all need to be accountable.

John, great article. The beginning of your show yesterday was touching as well. These events Must stop. I love how you mentioned prayer on the show yesterday, that is one thing we can not stop doing, but action needs to be taken as well. Every life is precious and to see these innocent lives taken is heartbreaking. I wish that the fact that over 2000 innocent lives are taken by abortion each day would garner as much attention as these events. I believe these events are related because they are both caused by the lack of respect for human life. John, this new platform of yours would be a great place for you to speak about both of these evils.

We’ll said John. Your heartfelt words speak for all of us. I hate that so many people are numb to this. I hate that it’s become a new normal for a lot of people, including our government leaders. I hate looking into my kids eyes, having no answers to comfort them. We as a society have to do something! We have to make common sense changes now!

John, while dismayed, I understand why we don’t see any progress with 2nd Amendment rights within our current political culture, but I don’t understand why we can’t insure a secure environment for all schools. Surely every politician would support that right. How do young men clothed in flak jackets , & carrying automatic weapons, continue to gain access to our schools?

Why don’t you have the guts to name the political party that stands in the way of action?

The Second and Third Amendments were called “the Militia Amendments” for over a Century. The Militia used to perform military, policing, and fire fighting duties in the 18th and 19th Centuries. As other agencies supplanted their roles, the Militia became obsolete by the early 20th Century. The “Militia” has not served in a war, protected a community, or put out a fire since then.

Everything we know about the Second Amendment is a myth created by the NRA in 1975. This is a national disgrace.

Thanks for voicing what a lot of us are thinking. I retired from teaching in 2020 and one of the things I hated the most was the active shooter training/lockdown drills we did. When will people understand that it is our proliferation of guns that kill. I know the NRA response is "guns don't kill, people do", but my response to them is that guns may not kill, but people with guns do.
