I bought a VHS copy of It’s a Wonderful Life for $4.95 way back when. I still have the tape, but for the life of me, I don’t remember where I stashed the VHS machine…also in my library, a copy of A War For The Ages OSU V UO 1998, parts 1 & 2, and of course, Beaver Football 2001 Fiesta Bowl. No library would be complete without these titles…now…if I could only remember what I did with that VHS machine…
I think the only way the Pac-12 will get the rest of the country to take it seriously is to schedule some decent non-conference games instead of three powder puff games against Our Lady of Perpetual Motion, Little Sisters of the Poor, and Wattsamatta U. Until Pac-12 schools start playing (and beating) SEC, Big 10, Big 12, and ACC schools, they'll be #5 in a five-conference pecking order.
Oregon at UGA. UW vs MI ST. SC, CAL and Stanford vs Notre Dame. UCLA the second half of H+H versus LSU still left to play.
Florida at Utah in 2023. AZ at Miss St. Oregon at TX Tech, a team that destroyed Ole Miss in its bowl game. Utah also plays at Baylor. Wazzu hosts Wisconsin. CU at TCU. Stanford and SC vs Notre Dame.
Historically, the Pac-12 does not duck worthy comp OOC. UCLA's OOC slate was vapid ain 2022 and will be the same in 2023 because Michigan canceled a H+H series.
And of course unlike the ACC and the SEC, the Pac-12 plays 9 conference games.
Fair point, but I think all non-conference games should be against top-level competition. TN-Martin and E. Hairball St. should be left to UMass and Texas St.- Scorpion Flats and the like.
Oregon State just clobbered Florida. What more do you want?! And, no, the Gators who did not play don't matter. OSU also had players who passed. All even.
Boise St., Fresno St. , UCF, App. St., Coastal Carolina just to name a few Group of 5 teams...seem to recall Georgia St. coming to Autzen and watching Oregon play uninspired football...the game has changed...Tulane just beat USC in the Cotton Bowl.
As a Beaver fan I hate to give anything to the Ducks but LaMichael James is definitely deserving of recognition and I do eat occasionally at his nearby Killer Burger. Kind of irresistible on both. Okay. Go Beavs!
I did not know the "It's A Wonderful Life" story was from Paul Harvey! But no surprise. No one distilled the truth of the American spirit like Paul Harvey. He was / is a treasure. Want to cry like a baby? Watch the 2013 John Deere Super Bowl commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRDaPEaDJ7E
Small World Dept.: My dad was a producer at ABC Radio in LA when Paul Harvey came to town. I, too, was always a fan; his special delivery was a hit with me. When I met him he was just like on the radio--big, bold and bombastic. But he took a moment to shake the hand of a 12-year-old admirer. Thanks for the reminder.
Bar-none...the best stable of QB's (collectively) throughout all power 5 conferences - going into next season.
Interesting how The SEC and Pac-12 ended up with 6ea teams in the final rankings whereas the ACC, BIG10 and Big 12 represented 3ea. I'm very curious to see how the "personality" of D. Sanders translates into results on the field. As a young aspiring player...do I follow the straight hat brim, gold sunglasses and the cameras (reality show) or do I align myself with proven coaches and winners i.e., K. Smart, N. Sabin, D. Sweeney etc? Fascinating times in the world of college football!
It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas are watched at my house every year during the holiday season! My granddaughter, now 13, knows the words to several tunes from WC.
So happy for LaMichael!! Well deserved inductee to the CHofF!
While I’m looked forward to seeing what Coach Sanders can accomplish at CO, I hope “Prime” doesn’t dominate the HC media conversations in the PAC.
We watch Its a Wonderful Life every Christmas eve with our kids (along with Trading Places...I might not win Father of the year). I wish J Stew had played in Chip's system. He might have run for 400 against the Huskies instead of just 251.
John- great read again. Thank you for mentioning Paul Harvey- I feel like he was the original podcaster. His storytelling was absolute perfection. I always want the rest of the story. So few give us that today. I can still hear his voice in my head.
I am in the same boat--I cannot stop thinking about football. I’m especially interested in Beaver Football. What do you know regarding Omar Speights’s decision to enter the portal??
Also, loved It’s a Wonderful Life--great tradition in my family.

That VHS machine may be worth something ... ha.

E. Hairball State!!!! 😂😂
Nick Saban in theory agrees with you but Bama's 3 OOC games next season other than vs TX are not against P5 teams.
Hopefully, P5 vs P5 OOC slates will improve once the 12 team PO arrives in 2024?
I believe Georgia does not play any P5 teams in their OOC next year, either.
Georgia next season plays 1 P5 team OOC, at Georgia Tech.
UGA was scheduled to play Oklahoma but SEC central called this game off.
Not too long ago UGA played a H+H with Notre Dame and has more P5 OOC games scheduled in the future.
Yeah Jon!!!
Oregon State just clobbered Florida. What more do you want?! And, no, the Gators who did not play don't matter. OSU also had players who passed. All even.
I like cupcakes.
😝😝😝😝😝😝
Maybe you should check out the Pac-12's non-conference schedules before posting. The only team that played three cupcakes was UCLA.
Um, South Alabama wasn't a cupcake this year.
COME ON MAN! S Alabama is a Sun Belt team. G5 teams should not get credit for playing Sun Belt teams. Especially, a team moving on to the B1G.
THanks for the friendly reminder.
OR ST played no P5 teams OOC last season; possibly, among others.
The question asked was I believe, was that the Pac-12 needed to play more P5 teams and win the games.
See above.... Florida is a P5 team and we all know how that turned out for Florida
"Wattsamatta U"....love it LOL....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFacWGBJ_cs
Stand by, America! It’s time for news!
LOL... love it.

Great burgers. Great back.
Let’s not forget this side of LaMichael James, intend to forgive, but not forget.

Paul Harvey - radio hero to my demographic. Still utilizing his technique to this day.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” - the BEST. Got a re-mastered DVD in my stash. Home to some of the best lines in movie-dom.
“That’s some dress, Violet!”
“Why, this old thing? I wear it when I don't care how I look”
GO DAWGS

That's such a good story.

Mark my word . Coach Prime might have three wins. Maybe.
I’ll take the over on that
You can watch It’s a Wonderful Life every Xmas eve on NBC.
I have missed it.
Look forward to your coverage of Beaver baseball this year. -Bob Dernedde
Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Scrooge... the three best Holiday movies.
The winner has to be WL... Everyone has thought what difference have I made...
Love your Paul Harvey and George Bailey references. One is fact and the other is fiction, but both are beloved by me

CONGRATS LaMike!
It is a wonderful life. Not about where you start but where you finish. I doubt that I could have overcome the circumstances of his upbringing.
Also good to see Reggie Bush get in; give him back his Heisman Trophy.
