Speaking of impermanence! I am an admirer of President Schill, saddened by his leaving, but the opportunity to go to Northwestern is a "once in a lifetime". Again, John, appreciate the timely reporting.

Disappointing. We met Mike at the Alum function at Stanford last year. He seemed to be involved and spent quite a bit of time with our group. Sorry to see him leave. Seems like the LIV!!

No one likes uncertainty, and now we’re engulfed by it in our lives.

Zero pressure role + Good resources = Smart move. Also, this guy looks like a caricature of what you'd expect a university president would look like.

Northwestern is the Stanford of B1G football in several ways. One positive is that Pat Fitzgerald is the David Shaw of B1G coaches.

It's certainly a step up in the world of academia. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come for UO/Pac12.

Oregon not only needs a President but a Warrior that understands sports...

Here's another quote 'Kicking sand and taking names'.

I don't think there is as much uncertainty as you might think...I believe there are other Dave Frohnmayer's out there. We just have to have the patience and intelligence to find them. Lerivier (aka "the cat in the hat") was a good one.

Very bad timing for the conference to have President Schill leaving for Northwestern. The Pac-12 needs strong athletic leadership right now with the two LA bailing for the Big 10. Although I’m not a Duck fan, President Schill strongly supported the conference and was a champion for it. That cannot universally be said for the remaining presidents and chancellors. Strong, insightful leadership is needed to save the conference right now. Sorry to see him go!

Timing is everything

That being said - “He often confessed that he wasn’t a die-hard sports junkie, and now Schill is getting as far away from sports as a university president can possibly get — Northwestern.”

Classic Canzano

Keep it up

Schill is an academic's academic. I see zero connection between the SoCal defections (and possibly more) to the B1G and his decision to alight to Northwestern. Godspeed, Professor and good luck.

Lord, what next? Maybe you could step in John…..

I don't think he's thinking about sports all that much. Northwestern does have a better reputation as an academic institution than Oregon.

Would be nice if we could find a native Oregonian for one of those openings...

Will we end up in the PAC 2?
