John, I am actually the buddy Rob was at the game with. Have known Rob since we were in college (a long time ago!). He's a very good friend and I was in complete panic mode when Andrea swept in to save the day. She was most definitely in the right spot at the right time and I can't thank her enough for what she did. So glad she got good news and is in remission! Thank you for sharing this story.

The guy with the club level seats is a good dude. A really good guy. I'm related to his wife and though I don't see them very often I know he does a whole lot more than just offer to share his club seats. He likely also had something to do with Mike Leach calling Andrea.

John, buddy, yer killing me. That headline "not all stories have a happy ending..." had me bracing for bad news at the end. So glad I was wrong. Yet another great column, thanks.

God works in mysterious ways!! There is no such thing as coincidence! Praise God that Andrea noticed Rob, when hundreds of other people walked by. That she had the presence of mind to ask her husband to go check on him. Not going unnoticed here that the season ticket holder gave Andrea club seats, to help put her in that spot in the first place.

Thank you, John!

John… I have said this before. My favorite author founded the Stanford Writing Program and won a Pulitzer Prize. His name is Wallace Stegner Your intimate writing style, wrapped in the warm emotionally connective empathy of your

soul is beautiful and reminds me of Wallace Stegner.Thank you for sharing the beauty of Andrea, her family and her love

Like you've often said, there's a lot more to football than the game being played! Great column! Keep up the good work.

Damn. Amazing read. Thanks John. As a opposing fan, Martin stadium is one of my favorites. The people there are genuine. It doesn’t get more “real” than that. Nurses are Angels. 🙏

Slice of life. If this were a made for TV movie, nobody would believe it. Real life can be that way. Well written (again), John.

I am fighting back tears writing this John.

I was in ICU for 14 days in November /December 2020 I was saved by nurses like Andrea. I told myself I would go back

and thank those nurses and doctors for saving my life. . I never did. They saved me and gave me back my life. I am a high school football coach at Thousand Oaks High School in SoCal and we just went 10-0. I would have missed this if people like Andrea did not share their love, their dedication and their professional and personal bravery at the expense of their own health .Thank you . You are a fine writer and a wonderful human. God Bless you sir.
