John, I am actually the buddy Rob was at the game with. Have known Rob since we were in college (a long time ago!). He's a very good friend and I was in complete panic mode when Andrea swept in to save the day. She was most definitely in the right spot at the right time and I can't thank her enough for what she did. So glad she got good news and is in remission! Thank you for sharing this story.
The guy with the club level seats is a good dude. A really good guy. I'm related to his wife and though I don't see them very often I know he does a whole lot more than just offer to share his club seats. He likely also had something to do with Mike Leach calling Andrea.
I don't know you from Adam, Andrea, but I am sending bright light your way. I felt true happiness to read of your good news. And Rob's thanks to you! Sometimes the goods guys do win!
This Ducks fan says, Go Cougs! (I can do that since we have already played. 😁) And I will do my best to cheer the Ducks to victory over both our hated rival, the Dawgs!
John, buddy, yer killing me. That headline "not all stories have a happy ending..." had me bracing for bad news at the end. So glad I was wrong. Yet another great column, thanks.
God works in mysterious ways!! There is no such thing as coincidence! Praise God that Andrea noticed Rob, when hundreds of other people walked by. That she had the presence of mind to ask her husband to go check on him. Not going unnoticed here that the season ticket holder gave Andrea club seats, to help put her in that spot in the first place.

it often rains in Autzen, and Huskies are never easy to beat. Are you still the public address voice? Football is more than just beating the Huskies. but I just love to send the MONSTERS FROM MONTLAKE home crying and wishing they had not gloated so much in the Don James era of real solid teams yearly. Dawgs need a coach and another 29 year old qb! husky free nw, and I sure would hate to beat them by just one fluke point. Long drive from Eugene to Seattle as a loser crying.
Damn. Amazing read. Thanks John. As a opposing fan, Martin stadium is one of my favorites. The people there are genuine. It doesn’t get more “real” than that. Nurses are Angels. 🙏
I was in ICU for 14 days in November /December 2020 I was saved by nurses like Andrea. I told myself I would go back
and thank those nurses and doctors for saving my life. . I never did. They saved me and gave me back my life. I am a high school football coach at Thousand Oaks High School in SoCal and we just went 10-0. I would have missed this if people like Andrea did not share their love, their dedication and their professional and personal bravery at the expense of their own health .Thank you . You are a fine writer and a wonderful human. God Bless you sir.

He has done more for me than I can ever thank him for. He is truly a huge blessing in my life ❤️
I am sure that Mr. Martin could say the same about you and your husband.
Andrea. Thank you for your bravery. Thank you for your love.
Thank you for your selfless dedication to saving all of us. Love and prayers to you!
❤️

Like you've often said, there's a lot more to football than the game being played! Great column! Keep up the good work.
Thank you Don!!

The last sentence made me tear up.
Thank you. Me too.
Made me shed a tear at my desk at work right before an important presentation. Thanks for reminding us what is TRULY important.
Thank you. Hope the presentation went well.

Slice of life. If this were a made for TV movie, nobody would believe it. Real life can be that way. Well written (again), John.
Thanks Mark.
Lots of angels in this world. Thanks for sharing the story John.
Thank you John! You have no idea how much that story meant to me! Bless you and all involved!
I am fighting back tears writing this John.
