Dude. Read your post. You are saying that hiring by skin color messes everything up.

Affirmative Action was created to help minorities get hired and get an opportunity to succeed because whites were not hiring minorities. So if the white business owners hired based on quotas to insure fairness then you are saying it messes everything up. What am I missing here?

I know what I said. I am against Affirmative Action and always have been. It creates reverse racism like denying Asians admissions to certain colleges even though they have superior test scores. I am about meritocracy. As someone who is on a sports blog it amazes me you have a problem with that. Sports are 100% about merit. Do you think people should be selected to a sports team based on skin color? Then whey academic admissions or a job? Check your hypocrisy, dude.

I read your post. You are what you are .

Please try not to deflect. The subject matter is based on racial inequity in the NFL front office. I have worked in MLB, the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLS among other pro sports. I have been a coach of baseball and football for 20 years. I have also worked as an executive in broadcasting.. my world view is just broader than most.

Your opening paragraph exposed you. And that is ok.

So you try to impress me and everyone with so-called credentials (you look like a job hopper to me). I have my own. That means nothing. We are all equal here, right? And you believe in equality? The point you make that I am "exposed" is ridiculous as I have done nothing to hide. I said straight up I am against Affirmative Action and ratioing of opportunity. I am about merit. Full Stop. There is nothing else to say. You are the one lying to everyone as you say you are for Affirmative Action in some administrative office but not on the playing field. You exposed your hypocrisy.

I know you are but what am I.!!

Not bragging. Just letting you know I have experience in the subject matter on a level that John is writing about.

I never wrote I was тАЬforтАЭ affirmative action. I said it was needed.

Your post said it all. You are what you are.

Ego much? And you are what you are....I think that goes without saying. So why do you keep saying it?

This is what Brian McMorrris said..

тАЬ I am generally not in favor of ratioing employment by skin color. It is its own form of racism. The colleges and some large companies have been doing it for years and it is pathetic. It leads to underperformance and a downward spiral for the entities involved, like what is happening in our society right now.тАЭ

You said this as the opener to the comments. I have seen this kind of answer before. If this is you I am cool.

I think you are self projecting a bit here and that is ok too.

I am not even sure what you are talking about. I would say it is you who is projecting. My position is very simple: people should be advanced on merit. Period. Just as it is on the sports field and should be everywhere else. Skin color means nothing to me. I find it offensive when people even mention it since racism will never die as long as people keep making an issue of race. So, if you want to talk about skin color, it makes you the racist. You won't find it coming from me.

Making an issue of race??? Oh boy.

Read your opening statement and ponder it. Understand it in the context of what John wrote. With your logic you would see that you are saying John Canzano is a racist because he mentioned skin color. And please quit with the insults please.

Wow Ed, give it a rest. You go on and on. I think Brian is being sincere, I do not see where he has suggested John is racist, quite the contrary. It sounds like you just must have the last word or you will feel despite your noted credentials that you lost. In my view you lost this one whether you admit it or not. Side note - having all those jobs doesn't mean you were good or bad at any of them. I'm not impressed.

I like going on and on. I enjoy the discussion. To me itтАЩs not about winning or losing. ItтАЩs about learning and understanding those that have different opinions. You must learn not to take things so personally. I only will go on and on about issues that are of the utmost importance. Issues of racial inequality are one of those subjects that I will continue to passionately discuss. You do not have to like them or read them. But I am flattered that you have an opinion about my opinion Thank you.

So I should "ponder" my own statement. Not necessary. I know what I said and how I think. I think merit is what matters. John did not say anything different. He said "Over the years IтАЩve come to trust Jim TrotterтАЩs writing and reporting for NFL Network". He endorsed Trotter and that he belongs in the profession. I don't know his work but will take John's word for it. So, John is making the point that Trotter belongs and it is likely there are other talented black men (or women) who are merited to be in the admin positions at the NFL. Again, I agree. I also agree that there should be more black coaches because there are a lot of ex-athletes that likely have head coaching skills. I agree that people who have the skills should be advanced in their positions based on merit. I hope this is now clear for you.

This is what John Canzano wrote.

тАЬIтАЩm not advocating for unqualified copy editors and managers to be hired and promoted by the NFL based on the color of their skin. But is the league really going to pretend it couldnтАЩt find one black journalist qualified to work full-time on the news desk? And why dump Trotter for asking about it?тАЭ

Get it?
