I know you’re not a fan of Bakersfield but our county has taken action on homelessness. They’ve built a center where homeless people can live safely and also get financial, legal, and other types of help, including help getting into a permanent housing situation. A friend of mine has been volunteering there for several months. From what I understand, law enforcement officials can connect the homeless with this center.

And Portland might get to see a dangerous Indiana University team. I hope so, because then I get to come to Portland to see them play St. Marys!

Sequel to "Hoosiers" set in PDX?

That would be so sweet! They are a better team than their record indicates. Cheers...

I’m sure the basketball crew will do a great job with the tournament as usual but to think that visitors won’t be shocked by the state of the city is naive.

Portland City Hall spin: All those blue tarps are just locals showing their support for UCLA.

Hey John,

How about some more inside information on Oregon WBB and their bid?

The NCAA Tournament is a great opportunity to showcase Portland! From a national perspective, Portland still seems to have a positive outlook & reputation. However from a regional & local perspective, we know much work is needed to bring Portland back to its former glory. I hope the tournament creates additional motivation & momentum for government leaders & the community as a whole to enact policies that propels Portland back to greatness. Portland is the rose city, let’s not accept anything less!
