Sadly we missed the golden opportunity to have Mike Leach take over for Garry Bucey in the PAC12 production of Point Break! Maybe after point break is a massive success we can get him to guest star as the bomber in our rendition of speed XD
Those speeches about the wildcat behind the wheel would be epic.
I wondered about that too, I get that its not the highest of priorates right now with all the other things going on but it sure seems like it got put on hold. I have yet to hear a name put out there that just didnt straight up suck, and in this day I have a hard time seeing it NOT coming with some company name attached like the "warehouser family football nite brought to you by fredmeyer".
Platypus is a very stupid weak name for a Rival game ! “Civil War” was appropriate because one school is over the top liberal and the other university, quite Conservative ( Think Dee Andries and Fred Milton saga !)
So , up until now it was fitting.
Their School Politics hasn’t changed much since then.
Perhaps our new Republican Governor will step in and add her “ Color” to it !!
Mailbag question: Kyle Whittingham recently said that soon the top 25 will mirror the top 25 in NIL. Is he right? And, how can a more level playing field be achieved in a system that benefits the most powerful programs?
"Why wouldn’t the Pac-12 add San Diego State to “box out” the desperate Big-12 from getting a foothold in the West . . ."
The Big XII already has a foothold in the West - BYU. Failure to invite BYU was a Pac-12 blunder on par with the Big East forming a conference and not inviting Penn State.
The PAC has alway been pairs of natural rivals. Started with the Pac-8: UW-WSU, UO-OSU, Stanford-Cal and USC-UCLA. Then they added UA-ASU. But they lost the natural rivals with Utah and Colorado. They would have been far better with Utah-BYU and letting Colorado go to the Big Ten. Much easier travel logistics, too.
Whenever you come across "Point Break", you're in a for at least a few minutes - it's best to just accept that and enjoy. Especially if it's the chase sequence through the neighborhood.
Hard to come up with a name that will suit the UO Libs and the OSU conservatives ….in my days in school at
OSU, only sissies attended UO; if you were a “Jock” it was either OSU or UW.
My entire graduating class in HS, the Studs went to OSU. No exceptions in ‘63. Blueberries are neither black , orange, Yello or green. Whatever is adopted , no doubt the UO Wokies will complain . Let’s just get the name agreed by both universities , without
I find it startling that the thought exists that Mark Helfrich has any sort of potential as a competent Power-5 head coach. I could tell after hearing his first interview that he was an ineffective, milquetoast sales person, which was a portent of the decline in recruiting that he experienced. Some of his game management decisions were also dumbfounding [e.g., his stubborn insistence on seeking & failing 2-pt attempts after TDs that cost the Ducks the 2016 Nebraska game]. Remember his disastrous personnel decision to promote Don Pellum as DC?
Maybe he was a good QB coach and a passable OC [although if he was truly gifted, he would still be calling plays in the NFL], but the Ducks' program was trending downward & absolutely face-planted under his direction.
Fight On John! Love that you are in Salt Lake City for the biggest game of Pac-12 season so far. I’m biased but like SC to win 29-22 and then the huge battle at Autzen next week with Barney Rubble and Baby Blue vs Lanning and pink duck unis

John. What’s up with the progress of changing the “Civil War” name between OSU & UO…. Is it just being discussed behind “closed doors”… ?
I recommended to AD Barnes that it now be called the “Blueberry Cup”, after our 12th largest Oregon revenue crop !….
Not keen on the “Platypus” idea . Please give us an update ?? ….the “Civil War” game is not far away !
On it.

I mean, we are the grass seed capitol of the world!
Yeah that this point I wont be surprised to see a Necter shop show up in the new Reiser remodel.

John, after several weeks now of Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime, how are the ratings holding up? Upward or downward trend?

Remember, this is about TV markets not teams. The Pac-12 already had Utah.

Wow I didn’t realize Kyle was that old. But I see Dan and Jonathan as the two from
Dragnet.
