USC band is easy to tune out. They know only two tunes. It becomes drab wallpaper.

I'm a WSU Cougar Fan and I follow the Beavers. I have to admit that Dan Lanning is a phenomenal coach. I know he has resources, lots of people have resources. He flat out wins. You can have resources, but you still have to win. Hopefully Oregon State can find that hidden gem of a hire like the Ducks did. That was brilliant outside-the-box thinking. When they hired him I thought, Dan who? I'm not thinking that anymore.

Clearly you haven’t paid much attention have you. Shoot Trojan band wasn’t the best in the PAC. Huskies much better. Stanford. Cal knows how to mess up games. Then as most posts here pointed out the bands down south. Broaden your horizons as the HBCU bands clearly dominate USC. And since you mentioned national, a month ago you got to see the cross country Indiana band of Notre Dame along with the another L for the Trojans (2 giant losses that weekend). Now most on here will agree though that the USC lady cheerleaders have well done uniforms. Classic styling.

I hope Jedd Fisch plays Lanning’s ‘helmet smashing’ video to UW players. I also hope he hears Husky Stadium roar on 4th downs, especially from the north end student section. Go Dawgs!

UW does have a very talented band. My favorite tune is their cover of Santana's, "Everybody's Everything." Their horn section crushes it! However, the best college football band? the Ohio State University ;)

Strange how every "dynasty"-like team (or think they are) eventually fall. The UO will soon do the same and it will be fun to watch them wonder what went wrong. UO-27 UW-34.

"The Trojans noted that it was 'Duck Hunting Season' ..."

I kind of wish Oregon still played Cal on a regular basis. Every time the Ducks faced the Golden Bears, I couldn't help but think of a classic line from the 1970s hit song "Convoy": "I says, 'Calling all trucks / This here's the Duck / We're about to go huntin' Bear!'"

And I think the Trojans need to be reminded that you can't spell "You suck!" without U-S-C -- in that order.

Very original. Any more clever comments you can up with completely on your own? Or…. is it deflecting from the FACT that Oregon has NEVER won a national championship?

Just like New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys fans, USC fans always invoke the past because their team is second-tier at best in the present. Oh, and the last time USC regularly contended for titles, they were violating NCAA rules on Pete Carroll's watch in the early 2000s. Translation: They cheated -- and Carroll wasn't man enough to take the consequences, which is why he bolted to the Seahawks. It's also why I'm laughing now that he's taking it in the teeth with the Raiders.

Sorry, posted this in the wrong place:

Hey John, first time responder and long time listener. I had a thought about what to name the Oregon vs. Washington rivalry. Why not call it the Emerald Bowl. Lane County is the Emerald Empire because it is "damn" green. Seattle is the Emerald City. Just crossed my mind when I was listening to your show from yesterday. Really appreciate how you approach everything you do with intention and meaning.
