I agree that the PAC 12 Network has high quality production capabilities. All Amazon or Apple would have do would be to bring in the play by play and color commentators and sideline reporting.
If Kliavakoff or one of his staff happens to be reading this comment please consider pushing for the game announcers to actually attend the games. It will be a better experience for all of the PAC 12 viewers.
No one can justify remote broadcasts as we exit the Pandemic.
we have a great shot. If we contain Franklin we have a great shot. I love this matchup. UTE defense is evolving. But man! That USC game exposed my UTES
This is being hailed in media as a triumph for the Big12. It's all relative though. It's a triumph when you think that the Big12 almost died a year ago. It's a triumph to get money at all for a conference headlined by TCU. But this is less than half of what they are getting in the Big10 and SEC. This firmly cements the Big12 and Pac12 as second tier conferences.
The main hope now for Oregon, Washington, Utah, and maybe 1-2 Big12 teams is to be good enough to be included whenever the "haves" break off from the "have nots".
I’m hoping to see all in with Amazon or Apple including an agreement to simulcast a few games of the week on a lesser broadcast network like the CW. “Amazon College Football on the CW.” Everyone with cable gets the CW and I’m fairly sure most with antenna only do too. Be done with ESPN and FOX, except for Amazon/Apple advertising its games on those channels like they do for Thursday Night Football.
All-in with Amazon or Apple would be terrible. Not happening. Must maintain partnership with ESPN/Fox. The Pac-12 Network content can go to one of the streaming platforms, but the bulk of games still need to be on major networks.
Because Amazon is still just a bookstore... If Amazon is willing to pay enough and to agree to simulcasting the top 3 or so games of the week in FB and MBB on another network, then all-in could absolutely work. Amazon could afford to purchase a smaller cable network and rebrand it “Amazon Sports” without making a dent in its bottom line if it wants to. Time to think bigger and differently.
You realize anything Amazon or Apple would pay to broadcast would be deducted or would reduce the payouts from the ESPN or FOX deals. There are only so many games to broadcast and the TV partners gets first rights to them all. Not sure why people cannot understand that.
There are currently no TV partners. Nothing says there have to be any TV partners, or that if their do end up being TV partners that they automatically end up first in line. The entire negotiation is starting from scratch. If the CW wants to charge Amazon/Apple to air programming infinitely more profitable to advertisers than what they’d normally have in sports time slots, then forgot over the air at all. Don’t think that would happen. I think it’s time for the Pac12 to move to online primary with tv secondary (and maybe only local markets). Amazon Prime already has over 150 million members in the US. We could have had a deal very similar to what the Big12 just got, had we wanted it. We’re clearly going big on streaming. I just hope we go huge.
Is there truly a distribution loss going from current Pac-12 Network distribution to Amazon? Far more Prime subscribers than households with P12N currently.
IMO getting to the finish line first reduces some of our leverage. I appreciate you and others are "hopeful" to exceed the bottom-line. Hope you're right and thanks for all your excellent reporting.
The devil is always in the details. Read somewhere that ESPN has a significantly bigger piece of this B12 deal than FOX. Probably an indication that FOX valued B12 for the Oklahoma-Texas game more than anything. It would also seem to indicate FOX will have no interest in re-upping with the Pac (to the extent that they ever did). For ESPN, this means even less space available for Pac games.
I got kicked off the Athletic for arguing with ASU and USC fans. Admittedly, I was trolling them and having fun. Not swearing, not being vulgar , just getting under their skin. I think I pissed off the USC, ASU and Huskies beat writers. The homerism of the writers on the Athletic makes them hard to take seriously. Especially the USC dude
I sure hope they go with Amazon over Apple. I'm not going to add *another* streaming service, and Apple TV Plus (or whatever it's called) makes it a slight pain to sign up without an Apple device, and they don't have an Android app (which is ridiculous for a streaming service).
There are way more people with a Prime subscription than there are people with Apple TV's streaming thing.
Sounds like a solid plan for Amazon to use the Pac 12 streaming set up. like to see them add SDSU to the mix. I see no reason to have 12 teams in the new format. That could add three or four tier 3 games a season as well.

They have to be present. Agree.
OREGON VS UTAH? I love the UTES and am rooting for them but Oregon looks scary as hell.
Utah has to be healthy or it won't be close. Also, game at Autzen is tough.
Agree on all points. If Rising is healthy

Also. I really like how Duck fans know football and their demeanor.

If you love offensive line play watch LT tackle Braeden Daniels at Utah.
How about those Trojans barely escaping
Arizona!!! Utah crushed ASU but Arizona will give the UTES some problems. Utah’s defense looked like USC ‘s defense against USC.
AT THIS MOMENT IS CALEB WILLIAMS THE BEST QB IN THE COUNTRY?
Utah played ASU, USC played Arizona
Right! I was thinking Arizona! Thanks!
I hope the Utes crush Arizona. That game is this coming Saturday.
doesn't the Pac need to decide who, id any, new members they can invite in?, Doesn't ESPN need that information?
The deals include provision to negotiate new members
The new members would not be willing to sign up without knowing if the PAC is financially stable at this point.

Let’s hope so but it won’t matter if AZ and CU leave for Big12.
It would be nice to be proactive in the future regarding all this media B$

Yormark's deal won't look like the the Deal of the Century when the Pac12 emerges stronger than ever. Your move, GK.
I agree, the Pac is sitting pretty for any streaming service because of their media
production platform is already in place. Plug and Play if you will...
Streaming yes… but there will be a distribution loss. Will be interesting.

It definitely loses leverage w ESPN. But I think they knew that
hey everybody. I know this is off topic but oregon state is #24 in this week's poll! This helps PAC 12 brand!!!

Don’t think Fox will be in Pac-12 deal.
I hope we don't have FOX do any PAC 12 games. I would be for ESPN + Streamer to be named
