HILLSBORO — Portland State brought a couple of Alpacas to its home football game on Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium for good luck. The Vikings also brought some offensive fireworks and good defense.
Final score: Portland State 35, Northern Colorado 21.
PSU reeled off 35 unanswered points, turning a 14-0 deficit into a comfortable victory. Said Vikings coach Bruce Barnum: “Once the defense got settled in and stuck their feet in the sand the game changed.”
Portland State (4-5 overall, 3-3 Big Sky) faces Sacramento State in its home finale at 6 p.m. on Friday night in Hillsboro. The Hornets are 9-0 and ranked No. 2 in the country.
On Saturday, photographer Mark Boling was on the scene, working the game for JohnCanzano.com. His photo gallery is fun.
