I just got back from watching the early matinee at the Delta Center. All I can say is wow!!! Dayton was down 17 points with 7:30 left in the game and finished the game on a 24-4 run to win by three points. March Madness, there's nothing like it.

When Dante is right, the Ducks usually win. Not sure what got into Cuisinard, but I'll take more of it. Hella more. Go Ducks!

$$$ baby. I call this a win-win-win situation. Ducks gets the win and the hype (which is what they crave- win) Beavs and Cougs get $2M more to share (win), and Beavs and Cougs getting money from a Duck win, pisses off Duck Fan (win).

Expand full comment

Well, I’ll buy 2 out of 3. I don’t know any Ducks who mind the Beavs getting some bucks.

Expand full comment

Duck fan here who is happy as can be for OSU & Wazzu to profit where they can. I feel awful at the situation they were left in and hope they emerge on the other side intact and thriving again.

Watching the Cougs just after halftime vs Drake. Close game. Ducks played well, hoping the Cougs do the same!

This duck fan is fine with trading wins for win shares. Btw, the big ten portions aren’t going to be too shabby in case you hadn’t heard. $26 million a year from the CFB playoff?!?

Expand full comment

Hadn’t heard. Good for you. I just heard that Rutgers and Maryland are getting a lot more than the Ducks and Huskies from the Big10. Did that change?

Expand full comment

Don’t deflect Todd… we already established that you think the Beavs and Cougs being kicked to side is laugh out loud funny. Just answer question. Are Maryland and Rutgers still getting more? Yes or no? It’s not that hard (well, for most of us anyway)

Expand full comment

Listen, it sucks that the NW can’t hang out together. But OSU and WSU want to make themselves out as martyrs. No. Not playing.

Expand full comment

They deserve to get more for six years and then Oregon and Washington get equal shares.

The numbers in the first decade approach a half billion for the Ducks.

Expand full comment

Good for you guys! Maybe now you can pay for your own facility upgrades and stop living off of the Knight Family estate.

Expand full comment

I doubt any national program like Oregon can survive without the help of wealthy alumni.

I remember sitting in Autzen when the student section chanted “we’re number 8”.

I appreciate the effort and support of Phil Knight and other donors.

Without them this would not be possible.

Expand full comment

And? It’s still MORE than the Beavs are getting. Who cares?

Expand full comment

Beavs are getting "student athletes" not flight attendants. That's what we care about. Sorry Todd....money isn't everything. We have people.

Expand full comment

Ok, then when the money runs dry, OSU becomes Portland State. Beaver fans should demand more from their athletic department, as well for their “student athletes”. Wake me up when the short-sightedness ends.

Expand full comment

And tell me again what you’re getting in the big 10 beaver fan? 😁

Expand full comment

Beaver fans should be able to use the extra cash as tissues if they don’t find a conference in two years. Lol.

Expand full comment

Yeah… you’re right Todd. The Beavs and Cougs getting kicked to the side in this realignment is laugh out Loud funny. There you go Dick Allen, proof that #3 is a win. Todd is just that kind of Duck Fan. Not the kind that wants to win games and have success on the court, field, etc. the kind that thinks it’s funny what happened the Beavs and Cougs. Unfortunately, Dick you have to take the good (you and your friends) with the bad (Todd). My advice, don’t be a Todd.

Expand full comment

Don’t be sad. Blame your athletic department for not trying harder. I’m just some effing guy. Don’t worry so much about me….

Expand full comment

Sorry, no blame to,ADs on this. Squarely on university presidents in their inability to hire a qualified Commissioner and more importantly their inability to recognize incompetence.

Expand full comment

I’ll give you that, Jim. This could have all been avoided. The Beavers and Cougars then decided to let the Uber drive away without a destination.

Expand full comment

Since you seem to be an expert on this topic. Where was the Uber supposed to go, that the Beavs and Cougs foolishly passed on?

Expand full comment

Trust me Todd. Nobody is worried about you, especially me. You just happened to be the first Duck Fan who proved #3 right for me. Typical Duck Fan response saying Beavs should have cared more ooorrrr… maybe they should’ve had a billionaire alumnus who’s willing to part with $1B of their own money and use the power of their sports business to make them relevant. Without that Todd, Ducks are in the same place. Not because they cared more. Phil cared enough for all of you, period.

Soooo, I take it you disagree that the Ducks win today was a win-win or is it just the 3rd win you disagree about.

Expand full comment

Soooo, for me it was a win for the Ducks.

The other issues are frankly irrelevant.

Are the Beavs in the NIT?

If so I will root for them.

Expand full comment

Doesn’t bother me at all. I’ll take the winning over the $$ any day! Glad the Beavs and Cougs are getting more money.

It’s not all angst and anger amongst us my friend. There is a certain despair I’ll give you that.

Not really. We don’t care.

BILL DUE: The PAC2/MW scheduling deal will guarantee at least $14 million to the MW, including $12.5 million due by the end of 2024 with an additional $1.5 million due in 2025.

Stamp this bill Paid In Full!!!!!

4 NCAA Tournament Teams = $8M

3 Wins (Colorado, UO, UA) = $6M

Total = $14M (and counting)

Expand full comment

$16M now... Washington State win.

Expand full comment

Actually, I believe the distributions are paid to the conferences rather than the schools and paid out over a six year window. Thus, at the $16M level, that would be $2.66M to Pac to split in 2025. I hope somebody can research the question, what happens if the Pac12(2) is no longer a conference in two years? If the conference is defunct, do the NCAA payments continue directly to those schools who were members when they were earned, or do they go back into the NCAA's piggy bank? The split may be a reason to never let the conference "die" for six years?

Expand full comment

NCAA Units are assets belonging to the conference, not the NCAA. The conference's bylaws state that if the conference were to dissolve, its assets and property would be distributed among its remaining members.

So the payments would go on if the conference dissolved before 6 years. -

But remember, the PAC12 is a corporation - the corporation, it's assets and IP don't dissappear becauase it no longer qualifies as a conference under NCAA rules.

Expand full comment

Maybe the answer is that all 12 schools are still members, but just not represented on the executive board? Yet, that wouldn't apply to 2025 when the first 1/6th distribution of 2024 Tournament is made.

Poor Todd....you are so stuck on your precious athletics and $$$ that you have lost site of the main reason for a University....Education. Sure I will miss the Pac-12 like everyone will and should. The Conference of Champions. No matter where we (OSU) end up we will always be an institution of higher learning and our student athletes will get an education....not frequent flyer miles. If they don't want that they can always go to UO. And by the way, PSU is a pretty darn good school serving a very grateful population of students.
