I was in Miami to cover Super Bowl XLI in 2007. The Colts beat the Bears in that game. But my lasting moment of that week came in a conference room at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Prince was scheduled to play the halftime show that Sunday. His performance may have been the greatest in Super Bowl history. There was a heavy downpour inside the stadium. Prince played through it, cranking on his electric guitar while delivering a 12-minute medley that included “Purple Rain.”
