A statement from a spokesperson for the Paul G. Allen Estate was released on Friday in the wake of a news report that Jody Allen plans to sell the Seahawks after the Super Bowl.
It read: “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation, and the team is not for sale. We’ve already said that will change at some point per Paul’s wishes, but I have no news to share. Our focus right now is winning the Super Bowl and completing the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers in the coming months. “
First of all, that is definitely a comment.
“The team is not for sale” is a comment. So is “I have no news to share.” So is the stuff about focusing on beating the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl and completing the sale of the Trail Blazers. Just pointing that out before I get to what is actually going on here.
