Canzano: What's with the name-calling?
Thoughts on Jabbar Muhammad's transfer, Damien Martinez's car, big games, and new coaches
It caused a stir on press row last Saturday during the men’s basketball game at Matthew Knight Arena when Washington defensive back Jabbar Muhammad posted on social media that he was deserting UW for Oregon.
Ducks football coach Dan Lanning — a guest of honor at the game — was sitting within eyesight when the news broke. He didn’t flinch. But frustrated college football fans did.
Muhammad was called “disloyal” and a “traitor” in replies to his social post. One fan characterized his flip to Oregon as “gross” and another labeled him as “soft.” Later, I heard his transfer compared to the one made by DJ Rodman, a Washington State basketball player who bolted for USC last May.
