Canzano: Wayne Tinkle's last stand is something to watch
Search firm hovering over his shoulder.
LAS VEGAS — Wayne Tinkle’s last stand began on Sunday evening at Orleans Arena with a clumsy quartet of characters hovering over his shoulder.
It was a bad look.
Glenn Sugiyama, head of the DHR search firm, paraded behind the scorer’s table during pregame introductions. He was trailed by two DHR consultants, Dan Guerrero, a former UCLA athletic director, and ex-Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson.
Oregon State AD Scott Barnes was there, too. Tinkle has already been fired. He’s decided to stay and finish the job. The foursome charged with finding his replacement took empty “support staff” seats directly behind OSU’s bench and got about tapping their toes and waiting for the season to bleed out.
Oregon State beat San Francisco, 78-77.
