Remember Washington State’s 24-19 Apple Cup victory over Washington last football season? My photographer snapped a picture of the post-game celebration. Football coach Jake Dickert was whooping it up alongside Athletic Director Anne McCoy and campus President Kirk Schulz.
Schulz saw the photo and sent me a text: “Our day in Seattle!”
All three are gone now.
Washington State announced it fired McCoy on Wednesday, less than 18 months into her five-year contract. New campus President Elizabeth Cantwell informed the AD on Tuesday that she wanted to move in another direction.
“It was a total clash of styles,” said one insider.
