I reached Washington State coach Kyle Smith on Friday morning. He was up early, in his hotel in Tempe, Ariz. and we jumped on the phone.
The Cougars beat Arizona 77-74 on Thursday night in Tucson. It was a wild finish that included a four-point play from Jaylen Wells with 24 seconds left. The victory gave WSU a season sweep of the Wildcats. As the team boarded the bus to Tempe, the Cougars did so alone in first place in the Pac-12.
