Canzano: Washington State fans have had enough, thank you
Who should the Cougars hire?
I took a call from a high-level donor at Washington State University on Friday night. The first words out of his mouth hit like a bag of bricks.
“Hole-eeee (bleep),” he said.
Just two days after Jimmy Rogers signed 28 recruits, he left Pullman to be the coach at Iowa State. What do the Cougars do now? Who do they hire? And how much more can WSU fans endure?
I’ll get to all that in a moment, but first, a quote from Rogers’ introductory news conference last January: “I’m about as loyal as it gets, and I know that word has been thrown around here and people don’t want to hear it. But I don’t know if you can show that after 19 years in one place, building a National Championship program day after day. So I do plan to do that here.”
11 months later?
Outta there.
