As a Mariners fan who doesn't follow the NBA, I'm wondering how much longer Root Sports will survive and what it will mean to the team since they own a large % of it. But overall, I'm happy with teams moving to over the air channels. Seems likely the Mariners will end up there before long as well. Root Sports and the Pac 12 Network were the main reasons I still have Comcast, so it looks like I can finally cut the cord in the near future
That would be an interesting move, since the Mariners recently purchased the part of ROOT they didn't already own. They already have good carriage arrangements with most cable/satellite systems, so they would be taking quite a gamble.

Mariners have hinted that 2025 may be their last year on ROOT and they may scrap the channel all together.

Nothing wrong with Root Sports itself, in my opinion, but if it is not widely available/distributed, it is a problem
