Canzano: Throwing a dart in a football stadium
A reader reached out with a complaint...
I received some critical feedback the other day from one of my trusted childhood friends. His father-in-law, a die-hard reader, had a bone to pick with me.
“You’re not going to like hearing this,” my friend said.
I stopped him right there. I’ve heard it all over the years. People always say, “You favor the Ducks too much,” or “You favor the Beavers too much,” or “Too much Pac-12,” or “Too much college football,” but you know what nobody ever says?
I mean — nobody.
“Too much human interest.”
I’ll get to the bellyaching from my friend’s in-laws in a second. But first, I ran into Tom Maletis the other day. He owns and operates Langdon Farms Golf Club. He always says hi to me when he sees me. So Maletis comes up to me, and we shake hands in the parking lot, and he says, “Hey, you know what I love most about you going out on your own with this writing thing?”
