At a time when our beloved Country is racked by dissension, one can only hope, nay, believe that there are a multitude of people like Dave and his daughters who serve as foundational representatives for all we hold dear.

From one proud Dad to another, Happy Father's Day, John!

My wish for every father today is that one day they get to see their grandchildren play sports! ❤️

Dave truly planted more than coins. May he Rest In Peace while his girls share wonderful memories.

To Lynn & Mimi:

What an honor and privilege to be labeled “The voice of your childhood!” I can’t think of any better honor I could ever want. Thanks to you both. And, thanks to your grandad for turning you into lifetime Ducks! I look forward to meeting you both someday.

PS - it hardly ever rains at Autzen anymore.

Coins? He left quite an inheritance.

Beautiful story. Thanks John.

My Dad turns 91 in July.

He's a massive Dodgers fan and is totally frustrated with their current TV arrangements in So Cal .

I found him an "unofficial" streaming site, but it recently got shut down.

So, I finally ponied up and subscribed him to all the necessary MLB.TV streaming accounts. He's thrilled and it makes me so happy.

Happy Father's Day All!

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: The wrestling icon and actor frequently shares heartwarming moments with his three daughters (Simone, Jasmine, and Tiana). He has famously stated that while every man might want a son, they need a daughter.

Thanks for the Father’s Day gift John…you have stirred up some of my greatest memories of my Dad as well as my Grandfathers. Happy Father’s Day!!!😊

Bravo! All I could think about is Dad and I planting a telephone pole together to put up our first backboard and rim out on the farm. It was 1962. I was 10. Shot hoops year round sometimes in the dark. Dad spent lots of time standing at the pole to pass it back to me and also to make the ball didn’t roll under the fence into the bull corral. Thank you! And thank you Dad! I miss you everyday.

If I had a nickel for every story I could tell about my Dad and me...

"... you know what nobody ever says?

"I mean — nobody.

“'Too much human interest.'”

This column, right here, is why your friend's father-in-law is dead wrong. Not to say you don't do a great job analyzing games, reporting on off-field developments, bringing hot takes about the news of the day, and things like that, but the stories that tug at the heartstrings are your best work.

Very sweet. As a dad and a granddad I can only hope I will be remembered by my kids like this

Awesome article, sounded like a fantastic person. I'm blown away by his 85 years of watching University of Oregon football, while missing only one game. That's got to be some sort of record. In today's hyper tv, nil, portal world, at the end of the day it's guys like Dave who carry these programs.

Their dad was larger than life. He left a strong legacy!
