Oh, John; I too shared the misty eyes of joy with you and your beloved sister. Most touching, thank you. Charlie

There is a lot of "research" on birth order. Most CEO's are first born. Most elite athletes are youngest siblings. It is interesting stuff.

Great and true story and advice. We were three and three in my family and all three girls were tremendous in succeeding. In their own ways they encouraged, cajoled and supported their husbands to succeed.

My father would always pit me against my two years younger sister in wrestling matches- you can’t beat up on your sister! She ended up being an Ex-Vp for a pharmaceutical company. The others were upper management for state police and state departments. Taking it easy on a man never was considered.

When I taught the girls community service class how to build I stressed that I don’t want you to have to rely on a man- you can do it. That’s the message I gave my new daughter. She builds her own furniture.

about 4-5 paragraphs into reading JC's column, i recalled reading about Scott Rueck and/or Kelly Graves recruiting gals for their teams. if the gals had older brothers, these recruits were on fire and on their way! a very heart-warming column, John! congrats/best to your sis :)

She'll not take it easy on him unless she knows she should or wants to. Wishing them many happy years together.

Sure enjoyed that, John. My youngest just got married a month ago: caught myself in front row, needing Kleenex
