Canzano: Sundays are for sorting out Pac-12 expansion
Who will the Pac-12 Conference add?
The Pac-12 Conference has made some big mistakes. For one, it let UCLA and USC get away. Also, in the wake of that unfortunate announcement last summer, the conference did a dismal job of telling its own story.
Weeks of silence hasn’t helped the cause.
The “ministers of misinformation” have filled that void with a lot of fear mongering and nonsense. Consulting firms and crisis-management entities have worked hard behind the scenes to craft a troubling narrative.
The Pac-12’s “imminent demise”?
The “Pac-12 in danger of crumbling”?
The conference hasn’t helped itself in the last six months, but the 10 remaining universities still appear galvanized. The university presidents and chancellors say they’re in it together. Multiple athletic directors and Pac-12 campus leaders have repeatedly told me and other media outlets that nobody else is leaving.
So the next question is: Who’s coming?
