Canzano: Storytime... in front of CFP semifinal
Is Oregon arriving a year too early?
The Oregon Ducks have a pile of talent. They have coaching. They have the Peach Bowl stage and a shot at redemption against the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff semifinals. But I wonder if the Ducks are arriving one year too early.
More on that in a bit.
First, a story.
It was April 2003, and I slipped into the winning locker room at the Louisiana Superdome after the championship basketball game of the men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Syracuse had just upset Kansas to win its first-ever national title. An 18-year-old freshman named Carmelo Anthony was standing in the middle of the exuberant locker room, still in uniform, and he was talking. I stood to one side, just off his elbow, taking notes and shaking my head at the absurdity of the scene.
