A reader reached out to tell me he was very excited for the Pac-12 football season.
“Literally,” Ben Johnson wrote, “like a little kid waiting for Christmas.”
Johnson is a former shortstop who played on Jack Riley’s baseball teams at Oregon State. He loved the old Pac-10, where he made the all-conference teams multiple times in the late 1980s. Johnson had a smooth glove and grew up playing high school ball in Oregon.
He watched the downfall of his old conference with dread over the last few years. Johnson also likes to make a little music in his free time. This summer, he decided to produce a series of songs for the new Pac-12.
“My wife thinks they are quite good,” he said.
