Canzano: Some final thoughts for 2025
CFP updates, predictions for 2026, and more.
It’s Wednesday.
I’m sure of it.
That’s garbage day in my neighborhood.
The morning rumble of the sanitation trucks used to cause panic in my heart. I’d jump from bed, throw on shoes, race outside, and pull the cans out to the curb. Over the years, I’ve settled into a more methodical adult-like process, pulling the cans out on Tuesday night under the stars.
The ritual itself is very helpful to my body clock and calendar. I work seven days a week. No two days are alike. I’m frequently in transit. The kids are off school on Saturday and Sunday, but the weekends are work days for me. Knowing that the garbage trucks come on Wednesday provides a concrete line of delineation in my week.
Several careful readers noted that I appeared unaware of where I was and what day it was in Tuesday’s post. I had the days for the College Football Playoff quarterfinal games incorrect. Thanks to all who emailed and posted in the comment section. A special thanks to the hundreds of you who roasted me for it in a good-natured way.
Wrote Michael: “I hope you don’t wait until Saturday to watch the Oregon game.”
Wrote Bev: “Your calendar is spoofing you!”
Wrote Larry: “You have always been ‘ahead of your time.’”
The correct CFP game dates:
