Oregon LB Noah Sewell is the baby of the family.
Great writing John. I now live in St. George and have a son that plays varsity football as a freshman. The Sewell’s are legends here. Not just for football. They’re really great people too.
Thank you, John, for a quick and concise biography on the Sewell family. I never get tired of reading your emails, sharing how some former Duck/Beaver athletes were raised and how their parents played an important role that brought them to now. Just like Marcus Mariota and the Rodgers brothers of OSU, they developed a strong work ethic as kids.
As much as I'd like to meet the players, I would also want to shake the hands of their parents. Thanking them for taking that role seriously and raising such outstanding people.
The Ducks will forever be changed by "Sewell Strong". The actual physical strength is one thing, but more important is the Ohana strength.....the strength of their heart and the strength of their will....the intangibles. It is very rare that you find humans on this planet with the level of strength they exhibit.
The Sewell's are much greater than the sum of their parts and like so many historic past Duck players they have changed the face of Oregon football in my opinion.
One last thing.....I would love to have a house in American Samoa like the one they grew up in. In fact when I retire in 8 years that may be one place I explore, along with Fiji and a few other Pacific Islands.
Thank you to all the Sewell's...mom..dad and all the kids!!!
You continue to touch us John, and we all need and appreciate this better understanding of sports and the people that it is. Thank you.
A beautiful, pure article! Thank you! Well done John. Love your work and most of all the thought and heart you put into each piece!! Congrats to taking the leap of faith in yourself and your dream!! Keep doin’ it!!
What a beautiful story about more than just football. It's about spirit and family. Love it.
What a great family. Go Team Sewell!
Another great story, John.
Great story and as a duck fan so grateful to the Sewell family for their sons. I will be in the stands this year as alway cheering them and Noah this season. Go Ducks!
Thanks For another great Story John.
The Sewell family story is really great...
Humble beginnings help keep you grounded concerning what's important
like relationships. I always wanted to see Noah as a RB, that would have been fun.
A really nice story. It gives me an in-depth history of this remarkable family. Thanks, John. I'm excited to see how Noah does this year with the Ducks.
Another great one! Thank you
I love the “down to earth” stories you give us. All athletes should be made aware of that not ALL of them come from upper middle class America. Not all of them are handed that ‘golden Ring” and sent on their way. Another locker room lesson . Appreciate those humble beginnings, great work ethics, how important family ties are. NEVER take anything for granted. EARN IT! Everyone should have a “Sewell” family to look up to. Until the next one.
Thank you! Another excellent story to start our day off. You took us to the South Pacific and back! Please allow me (a Beaver) to wish Noah and his family all the best this year.
