Well played, John. I thought the Ducks looked pretty darned good for a spring game. The WSU game came on right after and the first impression of the event was "desolate". Coach A said the Ducks had well over a 100 players on the roster already, impressive. All very encouraging, and now we just need to wait for them to stick the tee in the ground and start keeping score - won't be long. Just sayin', Charlie

Is there anyone left in the Palouse? I thought everyone, town-folk included, had transferred out of town

Thanks for the note, Brian. It sure felt that way. Eerie! Charlie

Agree about Dillon being the starter. Coach A nailed it as far as the size of the players! Looks like they’re changing it up a bit with all the movement, which might challenge some teams. Loved seeing Barner and hearing that he was admitted to the HofF- he was so humble even wearing two of the three championship rings and Dye was fun too. Thanks for your take John and hats off to Serena for the pictures!

Thanks for a quick update. I’m assuming by what you wrote that Gabriel and James aren’t as small as they looked.

Great spring game here in Eugene. Something for the Beavs to aspire to. 😉

Todd... trolling. I met Todd a recent radio broadcast. He was very nice and thoughtful.

Ok ok 👍 good time had by all today

C’mon….Beaver fans could use a bit less of Duck jabs right now, ok? I’m

also a Duck fan so excited for their season.

Sounds like Phil has bought himself a contender.

Pull up your britches, your envy is showing!

Who wouldn’t be envious . Lucky to have Knight. But I happen to,believe he had the clout to keep Pac 12 together.

Was the stadium sold out? Because if not that means the program is in complete collapse

John Canzano's avatar

I found the decline in attendance at Colorado to be interesting.

When the shine is off, will ticket payers come?

Be interesting to see how the Buffs do - winning is hard.

That's what puddle chicken fans claimed, I don't make the rules 🤷

Sorry, still got bitter taste in my mouth. Wish the best to Bo Nix and think he will be a star. But hope nothing but the worst for Ducks and Huskies

I couldn't watch, was the Big Ten logo already in use and on display for the Pac 12 Network broadcast?

pcoppe's avatar

No, but the B1G Network did have a booth at the game, handing out merchandise.

Pac-12 Network to the Big Ten Network is like going from Single-A ball to The Show.

TJA's avatar

Will Big10 network be in any local non-premium channels?

jon joseph's avatar

I do not know. I live in Aiken, SC and my provider is DISH. The Sports package includes the B1G, ACC, SEC, NFL, Longhorn, and the Pac-12 (RIP) Networks. I went with DISH because it offered the Pac-12 Network and many other providers did not.

All market viewership for NFL, MLB, NBS, and NHL is not included but can be purchased separately.

I hope this helps.

I thought the D lines looked good. The qb's had very little time to let routes develop and the pocket was collapsing in front of them which made it difficult to go downfield. I thought several new players looked good. Spring games are hard because you are playing each other, but the starting defense had the advantage it seemed to me.

Early comment on the radio communication between QB/Coach new this year. Need to figure a way to upgrade the system as QB's were having to hold their hands over their helmet ear holes to hear play being sent in. That is not going to work when a full stadium ramps up the decibels.

Robin Adams's avatar

The QBs in the NFL do exactly the same thing and it seems to work there.

GO DAWGS

Do you Ducks and Beavs really HATE each other ? Do any Ducks root for Beavs and vice versa when they are not playing each other?

Brian M's avatar

Beavers hate Ducks (in sports) period. It has always been so. It was that way when I was at OSU in the mid 70s. It was that way in the 1910s when fights broke out at the Civil War games (how it got that name) and the games were moved to a neutral site in Albany, as John has previously reported. That said, I actually have friends who went to UO and I don't hold it against them.

Hahahaha! Great answer!!!

All I can say is.....

GO UTES!

Good for the Ducks. Everything seems bigger and better in Eugene.

Wonder where that tone gets set, or at least reinforced?

Oregonlive today has a photo and subheading to a story about UO's Jamal Hill being drafted in the 6th round at # 188. Good for him.

Immediately under that, in smaller font without photos, are links to OSU's Anthony Gould being drafted in the 5th round, 46 spots before Hill, and Kitan Oladapo also drafted in the round before Hill, and 19 spots before Hill. Good for them. But no pictures? No large font? Why the hell is Hill the story?

Good for all three players.

John provides a fair balance here. The Oregonian, not so much. More of their same which has weight.

The Real Rich's avatar

The Oregonian has been trash for 20 years. It's a tabloid joke today and they have brought it all on themselves with their political garbage. Thrilled Canzano got out of Dodge and is bringing us this quality work.

Joe Stilwell's avatar

I don’t know which edition of O Live you saw but I saw stories and pictures of all the OSU players that were drafted same as the Ducks.
