I was hoping you would write about Payton. Now we need a photo of the two short gesture. Nicely done.

ESPN was bagging on his defense after Game One.

ESPN had zero points in Game 2. I question their offensive skills.

Was lucky enough to see him play in high school. Followed him through college now NBA. Some said he was too full of himself but rightfully so for all the hard work he puts in. Hope he continues to succeed and shine. Make us proud…

I loved the column and what Payton has done with his work ethic. He is very fortunate to have landed in such a well run organization with great coaching and players around him. And he has made the absolute most out of the opportunity as he always does and this is from a Beaver believer.

Yes, so important for an athlete to land with a team that understands him/her and values him/her.

John, its "Mom" and yes, I have my own instagram account!! My son played for FAST when he was 8 years old and Payton was in 8th grade. Payton has always been an incredible worker, he gave up his second sport of football (a heckuva a QB from what other parents told me) for basketball and he never looked back. Wishing him a continued successful and long NBA career. What a role model for the kids back home!!

Of course PP will have a long and successful career in the NBA but it’s not from him only having heart, hustle, and tenacity. The guy can flat out shoot. That in and of itself has kept many a player in the league and PP will be no exception. The other intangibles you mentioned John, along with his Eagle eye, are what will keep him in the game during crucial situations. The guy is a stud and doesn’t make mistakes.
