OSU and WSU wait on Stanford and Cal.
The presidents of the ACC canceled a scheduled call for Tuesday. Not an unusual occurrence, we’re told. But it raised eyebrows in the heart of what is now Pac-4 Conference country.
Washington State and Oregon State are waiting to see if Stanford and Cal will get an invitation to the ACC. The Cougars and Beavers have modeled their own potential outcomes and believe a rebuilt version of the Pac-12 to be the most attractive choice.
Is that a Pac-4?
Or Pac-2?
OSU athletic director Scott Barnes told me: “The best path forward to keep the Pac-12 together is to have the four remaining schools come together and chart a course forward. Our highest and best opportunity is to do that, and that’s where our focus is.”
