John, you are way smarter than that! The wear and tear on arms and bodies was every Beaver fans concern going into the P12 Tourney. Those 4 days were not going to help us in any way. I don't know whether you have seen any of the postgame interviews from Sunday night, but Forrester, Melton, and Canham tried to put a positive spin on the whole experience. It was very clear all 3 of them were exhausted and very happy to be getting the hell out of Arizona.

We have seen some great Beaver teams. This is a very good one, but not great. We are 2 top arms and 2-bats short of great. I think those shortcomings will prevent us from raising a trophy in Omaha this year. Love this group. No quit.

Great show. But they were exhausted... I hope they can both rest up.

I felt concern about the Pac-12 tournament from the word go. I have been to Scottsdale Stadium a couple of times in the spring--and it was HOT both times. I am not a big fan of the tourney... drains teams just in time for the NCAA tournament. Would be happy to see it retired, but that won’t happen.

We must have been reading the same websites--looked at the past NCAA baseball champs, and USC’s slide is unfortunate. Trojans have struggled in coach hires for decades... baseball has simply seen the biggest drop among all sports.

Looking forward to the Lady Beavs getting back on the big stage. Win or lose, their gutty play in the regionals and super regionals has been inspiring.

Nice work--again.

I’m a fan of your writing. The best line in today’s article is, “Oregon State happened”! I love it! One reason USC is not good & THE reason the Ducks have a program is, Oregon State happened! Damn right.

Since college sports have become all about money, why should USC care about a non-revenue generating sport?

Problem with USC baseball is simply this: with only 11.5 scholarships allowed by NCAA, colleges have to grant only partial fractions to fill out a roster. That means most of the players you recruit have to pay for most or part of their tuition and USC is way more expensive than any other Pac-12 school. Yearly tuition is 3 times more than Oregon State! Stanford is expensive, too, but they have an enormous endowment covering minor sports which USC does not have. Why would a kid choose USC over a Fullerton or Long Beach St. or UC Irvine (or not just sign a MLB contract) and pay so much more? I don't see it as a coaching issue--it's a practical money issue.

I’m surprised you thought the PAC-12 tournament was a good idea as you are usually all logic and common sense! Also don’t get how the coaches with teams already in the NCAA tournament agreed. Nobody has the pitching…going the Wednesday after the last weekend series and NCAA regionals the following week. No wonder OSU GAVE UP 25 runs in one game. Worst idea ever.
