I am happy for the ducks landing such a great athlete but it leaves me wondering. How much is to much money?

I have a feeling we are going to see lots of issues, money, drugs, bankruptcies and the list goes on. Maybe trusts or financial guidance should be part of the new new.

I know “buying good players” is the new normal but just feels odd. Seems like a big gamble with the transfer portal in play too, might have to get the kids to sign contracts that keep them in the program for a couple of seasons.

Happy the Ducks signed this young man, but it worries me that the college game that used to be played with pride for one's school has become secondary. The deepest pockets will win. We may as well call college FB the official minor league of the NFL.

I'll wait on the props until I see victories on the field.

The ability to sway recruits by having more marketing muscle and financial prowess … earthshaking. SC and Washington have had deep pockets for decades. Without Nike and a great game plan around NIL we’d be struggling to keep up with the schools chasing 5 Star recruits!

Welcome to the Wild West. Unproven NCAA offensive lineman at potentially 7 figures. Will be interesting.

The NY Yankees have the highest payroll in baseball. How many World Series wins have they attained in the last 10 years?

So the Ducks didn’t do anything wrong, they just played the game better. Are

We supposed to believe that Oregon can outbid Washington, USC and Michigan? I think those schools can run circles around the

Ducks in money from Donors. And the Huskies have been doing it for 70 years. I understand McElhenny took less money to go pro than he made at UW. And the Dawdather made sure Billy Ray Holbert had plenty of money at his disposal. But you chose to highlight the Ducks as some juggernaut in the pay for play game? Really?

Thanks John. I think you will be busy keeping up on NIL story going forward. I can only imagine the horror stories that you will cover. Just a thought. Big time college football, or the National Non-Profit Football League, has formed a strong relationship between corporations, wealthy individuals and university athletic departments. These contributions are tax-deductible! Do you see anything on the horizon to upset that apple cart?

As an aside, I can only imagine what the culture will be like in college locker rooms after a couple years of Portals and NILs. Win one for the Gipper! No longer quaint. It's a fairy tale.

After reading this I felt an urgent need to go take a shower.

John said it, the NCAA had a chance to get ahead of this. Greed on their part. Old guys in Indianapolis collecting fat checks. They opened the door with no clue about what they were doing. None. Now they own it. The world of the haves and have nots is now the norm. Used to be USC could give 120 scholarships and take every good player. Now the best NIL systems will be a clear separator of teams. They NCAA could have made adjustments to things and solved much of this. Again, greed. I do wonder what $ is going to schools that will be eventually re-directed to players through NIL? A billboard at the arena, or a kid with 125,000 followers who is offering support online?
