Someone must have pulled the Ohio Stadium fire alarms with 12 minutes to go in Saturday’s game. Or so it looked like it. Buckeyes fans decided they’d seen enough, packed up, and headed for the exits.
It was Oregon 41, Ohio State 28 on Saturday.
Hang on a second.
Be right back.
Need to go pick my jaw up off the floor.
Before Saturday, Oregon’s football season was a bummer. It had a handful of victories and some OK moments, sure. But it was otherwise a dull and dreary season, wasn’t it?
No electricity. No ‘wow’ factor. Not very much in the way of fun. That is, until the final three quarters on Saturday against Ohio State, when there was a notable awakening.
It was like watching a guy emerge from a coma, jump out of bed, hop on a unicycle, and start juggling chainsaws inside the hospital ward. Buckeye fans couldn’t stand to watch it, but I marveled and shook my head at the absurdity, particularly over the final 15 minutes. It was excellent theater.
