Canzano: Oregon State's Blueprint Sports deal comes with hangover
At least one lawsuit is looming.
Oregon State dumped Blueprint Sports amid a storm of criticism late last year. The Beavers’ athletic department terminated its three-year agreement with the beleaguered NIL entity in mid-December.
Now, a legal hangover has arrived.
Kyle Bjornstad, a former OSU athlete and the founder of the school’s NIL collective, has hired a prominent trial attorney. At least one lawsuit is looming. Bjornstad alleges that Blueprint Sport defaulted in January on installment payments for the purchase of Dam Nation Collective.
OSU Athletic Director Scott Barnes would presumably be deposed as part of that case. And the university itself could face litigation, Bjornstad’s attorney, Bonnie Richardson, told me.
“I’m still absorbing it,” Richardson said, “but there are some very concerning issues for Oregon State from a legal perspective.”
