Canzano: Oregon State slugfest win was a must-watch for one fan
No. 19 Beavers slam No. 10 Utah 21-7.
CORVALLIS — My father-in-law’s first name is Wayne. His middle name is Christopher. That’s not the name on his birth certificate. It’s the one a slender, dark-haired 33-year-old Taiwanese man named “Wen-Chang” chose for himself when he emigrated to the United States in 1979 with his family.
Why Wayne?
“John Wayne,” he’d tell you.
Why Christopher?
“Christopher Columbus,” he says.
Think about how American that is while I tell you about Friday night’s Pac-12 football game. Oregon State clobbered Utah 21-7 at Reser Stadium. The Beavers treated the line of scrimmage as if it were a quarry. They moved the Utes around the stadium like they were boulders, rolling and flipping them about.
A must-win game for OSU?
