Canzano: Oregon State rushes toward Civil War showdown
Beavers knock San Diego State out, 21-0.
SAN DIEGO — I once heard someone describe “a day” as a collection of hundreds of different moments. Wake up. Roll out of bed. Pour a cup of coffee. Take a shower. Get dressed. Go to work. Oregon State’s Saturday was just like that.
I was at Snapdragon Stadium, where it was 84 degrees at kickoff. The Beavers took a bus from the team hotel, got dressed, stretched out, warmed up, and then, methodically smothered the Aztecs.
Final score: 21-0.
It was a quiet, understated, dominant day. The Beavers outgained their opponent 420-179 in yards. They had 29 more offensive snaps, possessed the ball for 41 minutes, and never felt like they were in trouble. So why did I leave the stadium thinking that Oregon State will need to play much better in Week 3 if it wants to stay on the field with rival Oregon?
