Canzano: Oregon State faces fork in the hiring road
Take a candidate (or two) off the board.
Take North Dakota State coach Tim Polasek off the board at Oregon State.
He signed a new contract.
Polasek, 25-2 in two seasons, negotiated additional job security, a raise, and a boost in program resources from his current employer. (Pete Thamel was first to report this.) Remove Polasek from the list of coaching candidates in Corvallis.
Montana State’s Brent Vigen and Alabama assistant JaMarcus Shephard have both interviewed in person with Athletic Director Scott Barnes, I’m told.
Intermediaries were working to connect Cal coach Justin Wilcox with OSU officials on Monday. But Wilcox now appears to be off the board, too, and Oregon State may have arrived at a fork in the road.
