Canzano: Oregon State coaching search moving "fast and furious"

Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes interviewed seven candidates for the position of head football coach on Monday, I’ve learned.

Barnes told me early on Monday that he planned to “stack” the interviews later that day and work quickly. I’m told that the AD did exactly that in what one campus insider described as a “fast and furious” process that was ignited after the departure of football coach Jonathan Smith to Michigan State.

Among those interviewed are a pair of current head coaches and a high-profile assistant who has been a Broyles Award winner. Oregon State’s hire is expected to be announced as soon as Wednesday.
