Oregon’s 18-16 victory on Saturday was so soggy and so hard-fought that it made me wish Keith Jackson had been there to call it a “slobberknocker” of a game.
What I’m saying is, this game had no whimsy.
Oregon won in Iowa City. That’s tricky enough. The Ducks did it by coming from behind in the final minutes, driving the ball down the field, against the wind, rain, Hawkeyes’ defense, and 69,250 corn-fed ticket holders screaming for UO’s spleen.
