PASADENA — I bumped into Tony Petitti, the Big Ten commissioner, on the field at the Rose Bowl before kickoff on Saturday.
We talked for a spell as the teams warmed up.
Petitti caught the Wisconsin-USC game at the Los Angeles Coliseum that afternoon, then drove 15 miles to Pasadena for Oregon-UCLA.
“I’ll be in Oregon for the Ohio State game,” Petitti told me.
Too soon for that kind of talk?
Oregon beat UCLA 34-13 on Saturday. The Ducks were dominant. The offense scored on its first five drives of the game. The defense sacked Bruins’ quarterback Ethan Garbers four times and intercepted him twice.
Is Oregon ready for Oct. 12?
