Canzano: Oregon Ducks showed grit in win over USC
Ducks are 10-1 and on cusp of CFP berth.
EUGENE — The University of Oregon football team withstood USC’s Air Raid offense, showed some grit, and walked off 42-27 winners on Saturday at Autzen Stadium.
What’s that?!?
Not good enough for America?!?
I suppose the persnickety critics will point out that UO’s pass defense gave up 330 yards, and crow that the Trojans were a play or three away from making it a dicey game.
They’ll note that the Ducks were sloppy — and heavily penalized — but the object was to beat a ranked team, and that’s exactly what Oregon did, comfortably.
Apologies to the SEC honks out there, but winning football games like this is exactly how Big Ten programs won the last two national titles.
