ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The door to the visiting athletic director’s suite blew open in the second half on Saturday. Phil Knight and his long-time pal, Ken O’Neil, emerged with grins splashed across their faces.

“Great start,” Knight announced on the fifth floor of Michigan Stadium.

“We need to keep it going,” O’Neil added.

Oregon did precisely that. The Ducks beat Michigan 38-17. It was a mostly dominant performance from a college football team that appears headed somewhere important this season.

UO is 9-0. The Ducks have regular-season wins over Ohio State and Michigan. More than 110,000 fans traveled to ‘The Big House’ on Saturday ready to scream for Oregon’s spleen. Instead, Dan Lanning’s team blistered the Wolverines in the opening half and turned the place into a library.
