Canzano: Oregon Ducks' coach Dan Lanning sounds off on QBs, trampolines and the sound of a tackle
A 1-on-1 with Dan Lanning.
University of Oregon football coach Dan Lanning is hosting his first spring game on Saturday at Autzen Stadium. He joined me for an in-depth discussion about the quarterbacks, defensive line… and trampolines?
Yeah.
Trampolines.
There’s a big debate in our household among the three daughters right now about whether we should get one. I told Lanning that I was on the fence. Is it safe? Do we really need one? Lanning didn’t hesitate to cast his vote.
“Let the kids be kids, man,” Lanning said. “I’m all for it. I never had one. It’s one of those things I wish we had. I never had one. My seventh grade PE teacher would pull out the trampoline at the end of class and we’d dunk off that trampoline… I’m pulling for the trampoline.”
We talked about the quarterback competition, the sound of a great tackle, and how the first-year head coach is feeling about his team. It’s a wide-ranging interview and gives a great glimpse into the world of Oregon football.
“I think we’ve got some guys who are dynamic,” he said.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends against trampolines.
Although it remains to be seen I think Oregon hit a home run in hiring Dan Lanning. He not only appears to have assembled a great staff but he’s recruiting at such a high level. Really looking forward to seeing this team out on the field.
