He also has the development of his young bigs and a terrific recruiting class coming in next year to look forward to. Sometimes it just doesn't go your way, just ask Coach K.
John, Thanks for seeing clearly and pragmatically. Coach is a winner and court leadership struggles. The Bigs are getting there and Dante steadily improved on a weak wheel. Weight room time and new faces, hopefully with 2 years availability may be the new normal. There are a host of teams still on the bubble with high grade efficiency lower then the Ducks. Getting to NYC can be a springboard to opportunities coming to Eugene and contributing to “What’s Next”?

If I never see De'vion Harmon, and his standard 50 missed layups per game, or his incessant, poor imitations of Curly Neal until the shot clock expires, it will be too soon
To be a great college basketball team you either need a constant rotation of elite 5 star players or an experienced cohesive team that has played together for a few years. Oregon is somewhere stuck in the middle right now. The past few years they have recruited well, but they have mostly been high 4 star and low five star players or grad transfers who think that they are better than they are. They stick around for a year to display their athleticism and hog the ball just to leave early and go undrafted where they never amount to anything.

Congrats on your new venture! I look forward to articles about Oregon State athletics. I’d say don’t bother writing about the pathetic basketball team. But more worth your time & our attention are articles on rise of Reser Stadium & OSU football & the dominance of Beav’s baseball & to me a likely run this season to Omaha.
Inconsistent guard play and "dumb" play by bigs doomed this team to B- mediocrity. I know that the portal has been Altman's friend, but I really hope he can target & develop some high schoolers who might stay and play well a while.
Glad to see John on his next journey. I enjoy the Truth in written word and on the airwaves.
Canzano: Oregon Ducks' basketball loss sends Dana Altman on a new mission

Congrats John. Looking forward to reading.

Good column, John. Hope you will do a similar analysis of the Duck women's basketball team.
Good job John! The Ducks Will be Back!
A monster class coming in next year...this is a blip on the radar. We'll be back in 2023.

I am glad to see you away from the Borigonian and on your own. Well written and the Ducks are still more fun than the Blazers right now.
